A PROMINENT Newcastle family could be ordered to tear down major extensions to their countryside home that were built without planning permission.

The Ladhars were accused on Friday of an “intentional” disregard for the city’s planning rules, in a dispute over their property in the village of Woolsington.
Newcastle City Council said that unauthorised and “inappropriate” development had been carried out at the Redlands estate - including extensions to its main seven-bedroom home, the building of a separate five-bed “annex” house, a 10-bay garage being erected and removing woodland to form an extended garden.
The family, whose businesses include care home firm Crown Care and a number of bar and restaurants, was refused retrospective permission for the works at a planning committee hearing on Friday.
Ladhar firm Crafted Projects owns a number of Newcastle venues, including Pleased to Meet You, Lady Grey’s, and the Crown Posada pub.
