Don't let apps rain on your parade

RAIN CHECK: Get out this spring, whatever the weather

We are unlike almost any other nation on earth with our relentless pursuit of information on maximum temperatures and likelihood of snow, although to be fair the US might just edge us off the top spot given they have entire TV channels devoted to the subject.

But then across the Pond light rain showers are the least of their meteorological worries, given it's the land of hurricanes, wildfires and tornadoes, as well as the free.

Here on our little isle, though, weather is the opening gambit to any chat with a stranger at the bus stop in the rain. It's the cause of rows on the beach as you attempt to slather a wriggling five-year-old with suncream.
