Concerns lead to non-uniform day cancellation
The Chronicle
|November 15, 2025
A SCHOOL nonuniform day was called off following concerns that two boys known to police were planning to attend.
Park View School in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, had planned to let pupils dress in their normal clothes yesterday for Children in Need.
However they scrapped the decision after two boys, who are known to the police but not connected to the school, asked some of their students whether they were having a nonuniform day for Children in Need. A letter was then sent out to parents and carers asking all pupils in Year 7-11 to attend in full uniform.
The school said this was so staff could easily see Park View students on entry and exit and to monitor the site more effectively. Police officers were parked up outside of the school’s upper site Church Chare yesterday morning.
