Bakery firm bids fond farewell to long-serving trio

THREE North East-based Dicksons employees are set to retire after a combined 67 years' service, with their final shifts coming this month.

Angela McNeil, Susan Stamps and Jacqui Spurgatis are all hanging up their aprons after long careers with the regional family bakery.

Angela, 59, has worked at the same Dicksons store for an incredible 42 years, starting with the company at the age of 17 at the Wallsend shop. She said: "Back then Michael and Christine Dickson really took me under their wings and showed me the ropes. I've worked with so many lovely people, including my manager Karen. They're more like your family than colleagues."
