All change for the Black Cats, but this was a missed chance

IT was an evening to forget for Sunderland’s second string after they were beaten by Huddersfield Town on penalties in the second round of the Carabao Cup.

- By MATTY HEWITT

Manager Regis Le Bris made 11 changes to the side that was beaten by Burnley at Turf Moor at the weekend, handing three full debuts to the club’s new signings Marc Guiu, Arthur Masuaku and Nordi Mukiele.

It's fair to say you wouldn't expect to see the same level of cohesion as we might from the XI who took to the field at Turf Moor, but Huddersfield made 10 changes and looked a solid compact unit.

So there was little room for excuses from the Black cats. Here on the pitch with him, a desire to impress from all involved, or not wanting to make a mistake - or all three.

Sunderland lined up in a 4-4-2 and struggled to create anything in the first-half, though were vastly improved in the second-half. It would have been hard to be much worse, truth be told.
