JIM Green has been heartened by the increased support for Chester FC which their play-off campaign last season demonstrated.

The club's vice chair-man is delighted with the way season ticket sales have progressed and says many supporters have jumped on board so as not to potentially miss out on big games in the future.

The Blues lost their play-off final to Scunthorpe United but that hasn't stopped fans flocking to snap up their tickets ahead of what is sure to be another exciting campaign in National League North.

“We were really pleased with the crowds we were getting,” said Green.

“Last season probably more than ever was the proverbial rollercoaster because we had a difficult period earlier in the year but the crowds held up really well.

“I think that was pleasing for us because in pre-vious years, where form dropped off, the crowds reflected that and I don’t think they necessarily did this year.

“The fans stuck with the team. Then towards the back end of the season, where we were able to generate momentum and start building towards something, it was great to see those crowds growing again.”
