Raucous backing spurred Seals on to play-off win
The Chester Chronicle
|May 08, 2025
JUBILANT Chester boss Calum McIntyre could not contain his delight after his side beat Buxton in the National League north play-off eliminator.
-
The win set up Sunday's trip to Kidderminster and was achieved in no small part to the raucous backing of home fans as fourth place played seventh.
"That was unbelievable," said McIntyre. "Over the last three years I promised to give the supporters a team that gives absolutely everything.
"That's it. That team has just gone and done it. The players were absolutely magnificent.
"Losing a play-off semi-final here [two years ago against Brackley] has haunted me. It, like, haunted me. I was desperate for a night like tonight with that atmosphere in the ground and we did it.
