Dangote Refinery to Process 100% Nigerian Crude by Year-End
The Business NG
|The BusinessNG
Dangote Industries has announced plans to source all of its crude oil locally by the end of 2025, a significant milestone that could reshape Nigeria's oil and refining landscape.
-
According to a new report by Bloomberg, the $19 billion Dangote Refinery—Africa's largest, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day—is on track to fully rely on Nigerian crude, gradually phasing out imported supplies. The shift is expected to bolster local crude sales and further reduce the country’s dependency on refined fuel imports.
"We expect some of the long-term contracts [with foreign suppliers] will expire," said Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Dangote Industries.
"Personally, and as a company, we expect that before the end of the year we can transition 100% to local crude."
