Women's job growth explodes 56% in one year, IT leads charge

The job market for women candidates has witnessed a significant surge in opportunities, with a remarkable 56 percent increase in February 2024 compared to the previous year, according to data from talent platform Foundit.

Additionally, the proportion of women opting for freelance jobs has doubled over the past year, rising from 4 percent to 8 percent.

Leading the charge in offering employment opportunities to women is the IT sector, which comprises 36 percent of its workforce. This trend underscores the industry's commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment, which not only enhances employee engagement but also aids in retention. Following closely behind is the recruitment/staffing/RPO sector, with 24 percent of its workforce comprising women, while the BFSI sector stands at 23 percent.
