Potential for record 114M Tonnes of wheat in India

Theat production is anticipated to achieve a new record of 114 million tonnes in the current crop year of 202334, owing to increased coverage, provided normal weather conditions persist, according to a senior official from the food ministry on Wednesday.

The final phase of wheat sowing, the primary rabi (winter) crop, is in progress and will continue until the next week. As of the previous week, wheat had been planted in 320.54 lakh hectares, according to official data.
In the 2022-23 crop year (July-June), wheat production reached a record 110.55 million tonnes, compared to the previous year's 107.7 million tonnes.
