Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of railway infrastructure projects valued at over Rs 41,000 crore. The projects include the redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and the initiation of approximately 1,500 road overpasses and underpasses across various states.
The Amrit Bharat stations, spread across 27 states and Union Territories, will be revamped at a cost exceeding Rs 19,000 crore. These stations are envisioned as urban hubs, integrating both sides of cities and offering modern passenger amenities. Additionally, the initiative prioritizes environmental sustainability and accessibility for individuals with disabilities, drawing inspiration from local culture and heritage.
