In its latest update of the World Economic Outlook, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected a growth rate of 6.1 per cent for India in 2023. This projection represents a 0.2 percentage point upward revision compared to the April estimate. The upward revision is attributed to the strong momentum witnessed in the fourth quarter of 2022, driven by robust domestic investment.
The IMF’s global economic forecast predicts a decline in global growth from an estimated 3.5 per cent in 2022 to 3 per cent in both 2023 and 2024. While the 2023 forecast is slightly higher than the previous April projection, it still remains weak compared to historical standards.
