India looks to closer ties with OPEC

Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri has called for close ties between the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and India, the third-largest energy consumer, crude oil importer and the fourth-largest global refiner, describing it as essential and natural. Puri's remarks came at the 6th High-Level Meeting of India and OPEC led by Haitham Al Ghais,
Secretary General of OPEC at its Secretariat in Vienna, Austria on 9 November 2023. Last month, experts from both India and OPEC met under the umbrella of the 5th technical meeting of the India-OPEC Energy Dialogue on 27 October 2023 via videoconference.
