The Haryana Congress has strongly protested the changes made by the central BJP government to the fundamental structure of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and its renaming.

The party alleges that the government has not only changed the scheme’s name to “Vikasit Bharat - Rojgar evam Ajeevika Mission (Gramin)” (VBG Ram Ji), but has also attempted to undermine its original purpose and the rights of rural labourers, which is extremely detrimental to rural India.
