Bihar scraps Rs 800 crore tenders in public works dept., cites irregularities

Bihar's Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has taken a decisive step by cancelling tenders worth over Rs 800 crores that were issued during the Mahagathbandhan tenure, citing numerous deficiencies and irregularities in the selection process of contractors.

Neeraj Kumar Singh Bablu, the Minister of Public Health Engineering in Bihar, announced the cancellation of these tenders, emphasizing that all contracts would be re-issued promptly with the goal of completing the work within the next six months. The decision to scrap the contracts followed an extensive inquiry conducted by PHED, which uncovered significant irregularities in the tendering process.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Mrityunjay Tiwari criticized the Bihar National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government's move, accusing them of playing politics at the expense of Bihar's development. Tiwari argued against politicizing developmental initiatives, urging a focus on Bihar's progress regardless of political affiliations. He highlighted the strides made during the 17 months of Tejashwi Yadav's tenure and cautioned against hindering Bihar's development due to political jealousy.
