ALL 28 UNCLAIMED BODIES WERE CREMATED

In a poignant and compassionate act, 28 unclaimed bodies of victims from a tragic triple train accident in Odisha’s Balasore district, which occurred four months ago, were finally laid to rest through cremation in Bhubaneswar.

The solemn process was initiated on Tuesday evening and concluded around 8 am on Wednesday, orchestrated by the dedicated women volunteers of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), under the guidance of Mayor Sulochana Das.

Mayor Das commended the active participation of women volunteers, who disregarded social stigmas to perform the crucial funeral rites for the unidentified bodies. She emphasized the unknown identities of these deceased individuals and highlighted the bodies’ extended preservation in refrigerated containers during the four-month interval. The cremation took place at the Bharatpur crematorium under the BMC’s supervision.
