Air India express announces 40% more flights, new international routes

Tata Group-backed Air India Express is poised for significant expansion, aiming to double its market share in both domestic and short-haul international air travel segments over the next five years.

Managing Director Aloke Singh outlined the airline’s ambitious goals, targeting a 20% market share in the short-haul international segment and a domestic share of 15-16%, up from the current 11% and 7.5-8%, respectively.

With a strategic focus on becoming the preferred airline for Tier II and III destinations in India, Air India Express plans to enhance its brand recall value and customer loyalty through product differentiation and potentially launching a loyalty program. The ongoing merger process with AIX Connect, formerly AirAsia India, is expected to conclude by April, further consolidating the Tata Group’s aviation portfolio.
