Captain Orome 'disappointed to fall at last hurdle'
Surrey Mirror
|May 15, 2025
THE disappointment was raw but the gratitude for having played at Wembley was real from AFC Whyteleafe players after their 2-1 defeat in the FA Vase final.
Captain Helge Orome even laid out plans to push Leafe to another promotion next season, hoping that one this season will be confirmed.
The appeals process is still running to decide who wins the Combined Counties League Premier South title and whether Redhill, like Jersey, will face a points deduction.
Orome was one of five who had to come off with cramp or muscle strains against Whitstable in Sunday's final.
"It's still raw," he said not more than an hour after the final whistle. "We're a team full of winners and we're very disappointed to fall at the final hurdle. It's not something we've been used to this season.
"We've got to dust ourselves off, hopefully the league sort themselves out and we can prepare for next season.
