£3m park revamp completed

THE “wonderful” £3 million revamp of an east Surrey park, complete with new cafe, playground and community orchard, has been completed.

The new-look Merstham Recreation Ground’s facilities also include a pavilion, parkour course, outdoor gym, picnic area, pathways and landscaping.

The project was funded by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, Surrey County Council, community infrastructure levy funds, the National Lottery and the Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Councillor Rich Michalowski, (Conservative; Redhill West and Wray Common) deputy leader and executive member for place, planning and regulatory services, said: “It's really exciting to see the plans we talked about with the community come to fruition.
