Parts of the county among the safest places in England

PART of Surrey has been revealed as among the safest places in the country to live by a new crime map that measures the harm caused to communities by criminals

"Crime severity” scores measure the seriousness of wrongdoing in each area by examining the type of offending as well as the volume, so a murder or a rape counts much more heavily than a minor theft.

This index ranks Waverley as one of the safest places to live in the country. The district was awarded a crime severity score of just 6.9, which was the joint third lowest of more than 300 community safety partnership areas in England and Wales, which are broadly comparable to council areas.
