Waters ready for English title fight early next year

Sunderland boxer Travis Waters is excited to fight for the English title at welterweight following his twelfth professional victory on the VIP show at Sunderland Live organised by Manchester based promoter Steve Wood, writes James Bovington.

Fellow Tenacity stable boxer, Sunderland's super welterweight Beau Smith, also won his seventh professional bout at the event.

"It had been six months since I'd boxed," said Waters. "I've had three bouts this year, whereas I'd managed four in each of the previous two years. A boxer never knows how quickly ring rust can develop so it felt good to get back and showcase continuing improvement especially as I got a stoppage with my opponent Ryan Frost withdrawing after the third round of the scheduled six."
