Not quite a Win Win situation for contestants – or viewers

Whenever I watch game shows, I often find myself playing along as if the prizes are really on the line.

- Jennifer Cartwright on Win Win

It could be the cash, the car or the Countdown teapot, but there's something exhilarating about imagining that you're competing for something more than just pride.

But in new ITV game show Win Win, the bounty isn't just a living room fantasy - you can really win what you see on screen.

The show, which is created in partnership with the People's Postcode Lottery, sees 40 contestants in the studio asked to answer questions based on a series of popularity polls.

Whoever is the fastest and the most accurate wins.

At the same time, viewers at home can play along by answering the same questions from their phone.

When a contestant wins a prize, whether that be a holiday to Maldives or a kitchen renovation, someone watching wins the exact same thing.

Win Win has a brilliant premise but it falters slightly in its execution.

In its first episode, questions on your phone would load far faster than they showed on the screen.

This created a difficult choice for viewers - watch the game or participate in it.
