Cyclists pedal through the night to raise £21k in memory of friend Jen

Cyclists from the Seaburn Retros, and friends, set off from Brampton, near Carlisle, to pedal 70 miles in memory of their dear friend and cycling buddy Jen Deighton, in the Ride to the Salon event.

The Seaburn Retros cyclists ready to start the Ride to the Salon event.

The 22-strong group were raising funds for St Benedict's Hospice where Jen spent the last month of her life.

The Ride to the Salon charity ride was a huge success, leaving Brampton at sunset and cycling through the night to see the sunrise at Seaburn before heading to Jen's Salon on Sea Road for a celebration and reflection with family and friends.

The Just Giving page that was set up to raise funds has now been closed and an incredible £21,071 was raised.

Jen's best friend Sarah Briggs said on arrival at the salon: "It's very overwhelming, but it's been an incredible experience riding through the night with such lovely people."
