Black Cats' Pembele closing in on a return to Le Havre

Sunderland defender Timothee Pembele is set to return to French side Le Havre on an initial loan agreement with an option-to-buy clause attached, according to reports.

The fullback joined the Black Cats on a permanent basis from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023, but has struggled to make any kind of meaningful impact on the first team. He has registered just eight senior outings on Wearside, with the most recent coming in April 2024, and so far this season, has been restricted to a solitary National League Cup start for the Under-21s.
