Xaba family voices frustration over court delays

THE family of Greta Xaba has expressed their dissatisfaction with the repeated delays in the Pinetown Regional Court’s ruling concerning her death.

Greta Xaba died on May 8, 2022, after allegedly being beaten by her son, Constable Lungisani Xaba, a police officer at KwaDabeka police station, on May 7, 2022. It was reported that the attack involved a plank with protruding nails.

Initially, Lungisani was charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, but the charge was upgraded to murder after his mother’s death.

The Xaba family arrived at court at 8.30am on Wednesday, anticipating the continuation of the ruling, which had been read in parts on August 20, August 27, and September 3.
