BEAUTY ARTISTRY

- LUTHO PASIYA

NEIL Ramautar has spent nearly two decades redefining beauty and artistry in South Africa.

Based in Durban, Ramautar is known as one of the country’s most respected makeup artists, stylists and the founder of BG Aesthetics — a thriving aesthetic studio and clinic in Durban North.

His work spans editotial, bridal, television, film and image consulting, and his client list includes some of the most notable names in entertainment and public life, from actresses and musicians to political figures and even international stars like actress Priyanka Chopra.

Ramautar’s journey into the beauty industry began with a desire to change perceptions. “When I started out, there was not really a male perspective in beauty,” he said.

“I wanted to bring that into the industry. I wanted women to feel good about themselves - beauty is supposed to enhance, not mask.”

He described himself as naturally artistic, someone who has always enjoyed drawing and sketching.

“I used women’s faces as my canvas,” he explained. “That is how my passion took shape. I was selftaught, and | learned through observation and experimentation.”

Over the years, that passion has evolved into a career that bridges creativity and empowerment.

Ramautar’s versatility has earned him recognition across several areas - from the controlled environments of television and film sets to the personal, emotional space of bridal makeup.
