Celebrating 50 years of spiritual leadership in Phoenix

THE Bethsaida Ministries International in Phoenix celebrated 50 years of spiritual leadership and community service.

From humble beginnings in the Phoenix industrial area, the church now has two premises in Phoenix, with the one on Stonebridge Drive able to accommodate 6000 congregants.

Bishop Emmanuel Moodley, whose late father, Dr Emmanuel Joseph Moodley, was one of the founders of the church, said it was amazing to mark 50 years.

"My dad would have been so happy," said Moodley.

To mark the 50th Jubilee celebration the church hosted a number of events last week including the planting of 100 trees in memory of those who started with the church, a celebration for senior citizens, a musical concert and a community outreach where food and blankets were distributed.

Moodley said they also opened a prayer chapel at the Stonebridge premises for community members to be able to pray at any time.
