Hughes was emphatic in his answer when he was asked what Shildon’s main targets are for the second half of an already exciting season.With Dean Street continuing to transform with the installation of a new 3G pitch, the Railwaymen’s on-field progress is starting to match the exciting plans in place for the future of the club.
Hughes’ men are firmly in the race for the Northern League title and for a return to the Northern Premier League after they suffered playoff heartache in the last two seasons.
Ahead of Saturday's home clash with Easington Colliery, Shildon were sitting just three points adrift of leaders Guisborough Town and leapfrogging the Priorymen and becoming Northern League champions is the unashamed aim for Hughes and his players.
