Cruel words led to body issues before actress found stardom
KATE Winslet has told how her Hollywood dreams were almost crushed by a drama teacher who told her she would only ever play 'fat-girl' roles.
The star of 1997 hit Titanic revealed how the comment about her weight stayed with her for years and shaped the way she saw herself as a young performer.
Speaking on Radio 4's Desert Island Discs, the Oscar winner recalled being told early on she could have a career "if you're happy to settle for the fat-girl parts".
Kate, 50, admitted the words hit her hard, saying: "I didn't aspire to play leading roles ever.
