Expert's hope for camera that checks for cancer via mobiles

BREAST cancer survival rates could be improved if women checked themselves by using their smartphones, an expert has claimed.

The man behind a new scanning device called MammoCheck says it could be three times more effective than women self-examining their breasts by touch alone.

Marios Pafitis, a computer scientist and AI expert, said: "Up until now, there have only been expensive thermal cameras in hospitals.

"Now we have more affordable technology, we can bring it into the house so every woman could have access to early diagnosis, which could save lives."
