FORMER Labour MP and minister Phil Woolas has died at the age of 66.

Ex-Labour MP Woolas dies at 66 of cancer

Woolas battled glioblastoma

Mr Woolas, who died early yesterday morning, served in the Blair and Brown governments, and was MP for Oldham East and Saddleworth between 1997 and 2010.

A statement announcing his death issued by his family and close friends said he had battled the brain cancer glioblastoma.
