Cardiff's young Bluebirds up are up and running

- BY GRAHAM THOMAS

THE Rubin and Ronan show is off and running at Cardiff City.

Rubin Colwill and Ronan Kpakio are the eager, fresh faces fronting the Bluebirds' bid to get out of League One, sharpish.

So, it was fitting that with old stagers like Aaron Ramsey and Joe Ralls having shuffled off stage, the two young members of Craig Bellamy’s Wales squad scored Cardiff's goals in a deserved come-from-behind, opening-day win.

With only one player - Ryan Wintle - over the age of 23 in his first lineup, new Cardiff boss Brian Barry-Murphy (right) has bet the house on youth.

It’s a small stake, though, given that the manager has so far spent precisely nothing and signed no-one.

Barry-Murphy insists there is no recruitment freeze as a result of speculation the club could soon be sold.

And before the game, chairman Mehmet Dalman described as “pure friction” the notion that an American group fronted by Gareth Bale have made any kind of offer.
