Trump: US mediated India-Pakistan truce

INDIA and Pakistan agreed a ceasefire yesterday after days of cross-border strikes.

The breakthrough came as the biggest clash in decades between the two nuclear powers threatened to boil over.

It was revealed on social media by US President Donald Trump, who wrote: "After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE.

"Congratulations to both Countries on using Common Sense and Great Intelligence."

Both sides confirmed the truce, with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praising the US for taking a "pro-active role" in providing "peace in the region".
