Massive mark-up online as seats being resold
WORLD Cup tickets are already being sold on resale sites for a vast markup, with a seat for the final on offer for more than £80,000.
Fifa boasted it has had five million requests for tickets since it last week opened the ballot for the 2026 tournament in the US, Canada and Mexico.
It is selling group stage tickets for up to three times the prices of those for Qatar in 2022, while the cheapest official ticket for the final cost £3,119 through the Fifa site.
But many tickets have already found their way on to resale site Ticombo, with a category 1 ticket for the final at the MetLife stadium in New Jersey originally on sale for £5,915 listed at £80,550 including fees.
Tickets for England's first game in Dallas started at a minimum of £198. They are on the site for more than £3,000. A pitchside lounge for the match, against Croatia on June 17, is on sale for an astounding £100,706.
