Hall's winner not enough for Saddlers

WALSALL'S win at Crewe was not enough on a final day of drama as Bradford City's winner deep into added time knocked the Saddlers back into the League Two play-offs.

George Hall’s goal just shy of the hour ensured that Saddlers’ pressure paid off in Cheshire while the Bantams continually got thwarted in front of a bumper home crowd against Fleetwood Town.

Despite a dramatic fall from a seemingly unassailable lead at the top of League Two, Mat Sadler’s men went into the final day knowing that a win would be enough to take the third automatic promotion place if they could better Bradford's result.

It came agonisingly close to coming to pass after Hall controlled a flicked-on throw and smashed past Alex keeper Filip Marschall from close quarters.
