COCAINE KINGPIN SAID HE WAS ESCORT BEFORE £20m EMPIRE RUMBLED

Kulvir Shergill, from Oldbury, told National Crime Agency (NCA) investigators he earned his money through bookings as a male escort alongside teaching martial arts and lucrative personal trainer work.

However the 43-year-old's organised crime group (OCG) was, in fact, at the centre of an international conspiracies to import huge sums of cocaine into the country.

Between February 26 and April 24, 2020, Shergill's OCG imported around 250kg of cocaine with a street value of £20m.

OCG members arranged deals using the former encrypted communications platform EncroChat, which was used in organised crime before being shut down in 2020.

Shergill used the handle 'orderlyswarmer' on EncroChat to arrange premises for the Class A drugs to be delivered to in the UK.

He would liaise with associates in the Netherlands who would inform him of impending deliveries before his group distributed them to other OCGs around the country.
