UK flag can save hospital from Israelis

A SCOTTISH surgeon-turned-MP is battling to have the UK flag flown over a mobile maternity hospital in Gaza to protect it from Israeli bombs.

Dr Zubir Ahmed is helping to lead international efforts to have the lifesaving unit deployed in the humanitarian disaster zone where thousands of women and children have been killed.

He is working with frontline humanitarian doctor Mohammed Mustafa and Jordanian and Australian governments to provide urgent maternal and newborn care in the face of near-total healthcare collapse.

He said: “I've seen through video consultations the unimaginable scale of devastation to Gaza's hospitals.
