OVER 15K OFFENDERS GET 'SLAP ON WRIST'

POLICE handed out more than 15,000 “slap on the wrist” warnings to offenders in just six months, figures have revealed.

The total was in addition to about 17,000 other incidents written off under the force's “proportionate response to crime policy” (PRTC) in 2025.

Accepting a Recorded Police Warning (RPW) or a fixed penalty fine means offenders avoid further action and possible criminal conviction.

Scottish Conservative justice spokesman Liam Kerr MSP said: "More and more offenders, some who are committing very serious offences, know they will get off with a slap on the wrist on the SNP's watch."
