HOSPITAL PROBE BODY BLUNDER

HOSPITAL bosses who released the wrong body for a bereaved family to cremate are facing demands to confirm the same mistake hasn't happened before.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has launched a full investigation and issued an apology after the horrifying blunder emerged yesterday.

As a result of the wrong body being sent to undertakers, a service organised by one family to remember their loved one saw the wrong person cremated.

Senior managers at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow have accepted "two families have been caused significant additional distress at an already very difficult time" as a result of the incident.

It is understood human error was to blame for the "wrongful release" of the body from the health board's mortuary.
