LIAM FOX insists the key to improving Lawrence Shankland's goal return is pretty straightforward.

Play the Scotland striker where he can hurt defences then get the ball to him.

The Hearts caretaker's first game back after Neil Critchley's sacking saw last season's 32-goal striker take his tally for 24/25 from five to seven.

It was a resurgent display just days after Shankland and his team-mates' commitment was seriously questioned.

With Kenneth Vargas and Alan Forrest - the latter back in the starting line-up for the first time since December - providing the width, pace and supply, Shankland shone.
