Hell of 256 kid victims of human traffickers

CHILDREN accounted for more than a quarter of human trafficking victims in Scotland last year, according to official figures.

A total of 920 referrals were made to the National Referral Mechanism for reporting modern slavery from October 2023 to September 2024.

And of those, 256 were children accounting for 28 per cent of victims.

Joy Gillespie, of Survivors of Human Trafficking in Scotland, said: "With our very limited resources, we've already recovered 14 unaccompanied children since January. This is with only one staff member working on the ground.
