Forrest out to be a Hero again as Scot carves out three-shot lead
GRANT FORREST went to bed last night praying for a repeat of the last time he led teeing up in the final round of a tournament.
The North Berwick-based pro boasts a three-shot lead 54 holes into the £2million Nexo Championship at Trump International north of Aberdeen.
And after carding a fighting one-under 71 amid high winds and rain showers to move to eight under, he said: “I’ve only led once... and I ended up winning.”
That was four years ago when Forrest claimed a maiden DP World Tour success in the Hero Open at the Fairmont St Andrews.
However, the 32-year-old sounded a note of caution as he added: “There's a long way to go, especially on this golf course. I'm just going to take it one shot at a time.”
Forrest, who led Jordan Smith of England by one 36 holes into the tournament, was pegged back at one stage and even lost the lead temporarily.
