Nation hit by travel chaos after sub-zero temperatures strike

FREEZING temperatures wreaked travel chaos across Scotland yesterday as the Met Office issued amber weather warnings for snow and ice.

Arctic air has plunged much of the UK into subzero temperatures, with up to 40cm of snow expected to fall in the north and temperatures set to reach as low as -15C.

Heavy snow has already covered parts of northern Scotland with the Met Office warning snow showers could see some rural communities cut off, as well as a risk of power cuts.
