Champ claims another dramatic Grade 1 in Fighting Fifth Hurdle
GOLDEN ACE stormed to yet another shocking top-level win in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle.
Jeremy Scott's star was a 22/1 shot for the two-miler having apparently looked a lucky winner of last year’s Champion at Cheltenham and run lifelessly on her return at Wetherby.
More Grade 1 glory looked even more unlikely with former Champ Constitution Hill and rising stars Anzadam (11/4) and The New Lion expected to dominate the race.
Constitution Hill was the 6/4 jolly despite falling in the Champion and he raced with zest on his comeback before coming down again when in front at the second flight.
