Closure creates major childcare headaches

PARENTS have been left out of pocket after the millionaire owners of a five-star hotel axed the children's nursery in their 14-acre grounds.

Crossbasket Nursery School in the grounds of 17th-century Crossbasket Castle estate in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, is being closed with the loss of about 110 nursery places and 30 jobs.

Families who paid fees up front have been left waiting for refunds while facing additional costs as they scramble to find alternative childcare.

A year ago today, parents were guests at the nursery's grand 10-year anniversary celebrations with carnival games, BBQ and bouncy castle.

Today fed-up families face an anxious wait as they try to get their cash back.
