Tierney relieved CalMac has KO'd Saudi move link because skipper is key man for the title run-in

CELTIC fans have been clamouring for the Hoops to splash the cash and bring a January gem or two into Parkhead.

But, according to Kieran Tierney, it's a diamond in their midst who has rejected any notion of a big-bucks move OUT of the club who will again be the most valuable asset of all.

Skipper Callum McGregor last week binned growing speculation over a move to team up with former boss Brendan Rodgers in the moneybags Saudi Pro League.

The Hoops stalwart shut down talk of an exit and insisted he’s more determined than ever to defend the Premiership crown.

A title which would be his ELEVENTH since lifting his first in 2015.

That was music to the ears of Tierney, who broke into the Hoops top-team squad just a month before McGregor first got his mitts on the trophy.

Few know the impact the midfielder has on his teammates better than Tierney, who is now in his second spell playing at Parkhead with the 32-year-old.

With the club in turmoil after Rodgers’ sudden exit in October and Wilfried Nancy's chaotic 33-day reign, McGregor's consistency and calming influence has never been more important.

And as he approaches his 600th senior club appearance next month - 557 of which have come with Celtic - Tierney insists he is still the main man as the Hoops look to catch Premiership leaders Hearts and Rangers.

He said: “Yeah, to keep a captain like Callum, someone who is so important for us as a team, is great.
