Scots singer got her break when Beautiful South star discovered her cover of his song online and asked her to tour with him... now she's vying with Sabrina Carpenter

Carpenter was at 9. I was very chuffed at that, I absolutely love her.

"I had no idea what to expect, to be honest. I think just because of where I come from, Bellshill a wee town outside of Glasgow, mainstream music is so far out of reach it feels. But here I am rubbing shoulders with these guys and it’s so rewarding. People really seem to have taken to the album and I've got into what it is that I do.”

Rianne had been plugging away on the lower end of the Scots gig circuit, at King Tuts and open mics around the country.

“I couldn't sing in pubs and clubs when Covid came along and I started posting videos online,” she said. “That's when Paul saw my video.”

Rianne had already attracted the attention of a label and had signed a deal to record some tracks before his call.

“Paul has definitely given me this amazing platform which I'm so grateful for,” she said.

“I wouldn't have this sort of backing if it wasn't for Paul having given me the spotlight on stage. People want to hear my songs now because of that. Paul has given me the keys to the kingdom.”
