Sean primed to reward Curtis for going extra mile

SEAN BOWEN doesn't shy away from his hoodoo here.

But land the Gold Cup for his old babysitter and the Festival may suddenly feel like child's play.

The champion jockey last month became just the fifth rider to notch 200 winners in a British season, following Sir Anthony McCoy, Brian Hughes, Richard Johnson and Peter Scudamore into the club.

However, while they all had Festival success to savour, Bowen's yet to break his duck.

The Welsh wonder could do it in epic style in this week’s Blue Riband as he partners Haiti Couleurs in Friday's showpiece.

In an arena where fairy tales are often written, the opportunity to deliver the biggest prize for trainer Rebecca Curtis would be another storybook chapter.

Especially given she used to get the job of looking after the jockey and his brother James.

Bowen smiled and said: “She used to work for mum and dad when she was young, just riding out.
