Hailing from Jaffna, nearly thirty years ago, a young girl stepped onto the set of the Sinhala teledrama “Manawa Waarana” on Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.

Television followed naturally for her

She was just a child artiste then, unaware that the camera in front of her would quietly shape the direction of her life.One drama led to another. She appeared in productions such as “Sudhu Kapuru Pethi” on national television, and later in the Tamil drama series “Nijaththin Nizhal” on Shakthi TV. Acting taught her something invaluable very early — stories connect people across languages.

Before she became a recognised face, she became a familiar voice.

As a voice-over artiste, Hoshiya narrated numerous Tamil television commercials. Her voice travelled into homes across the country, giving life to brands and messages, long before she herself stepped fully into the spotlight.

Then came radio.
