Warning over cut-price surgery after six deaths

BUDGET cosmetic surgery in Turkey has prompted an official warning from the Government, after at least six British patients died last year.

Some 29 Britons have died from bungled procedures in Turkey since 2019, with many more suffering complications or botched jobs.

A new alert from the Foreign Office comes amid renewed calls against flying out to the country for cheaper operations.

The warning on the gov.uk website states: “The standard of medical facilities and available treatments can vary widely globally and also within countries. We are aware of six British nationals having died in Turkey in 2023 following medical procedures.

“Some British nationals have also experienced complications and needed further treatment or surgery following their procedure.”

Medical tourism to Turkey has boomed following the pandemic.
